Talk about something to do for ecological reasons
You should mention:
- How long you have been doing it
- Why you do it
- How you first heard about it
- And say if you think it makes a big difference to the environment or not, and why
I’d like to tell you about a habit of mine—actually, it’s my brother’s habit that we’ve been practicing together for about twenty years now.
To give you some context, we come from a family of gamers, so my brother and I are passionate about gaming. Over the years, we’ve accumulated many DVDs and CDs. To help protect the environment, my brother convinced me that we should never throw away these discs, even when they’re no longer useful or have become too scratched to use. Instead, we store all our old DVDs in special cardboard boxes, and once we’ve collected enough, we repurpose them into something new. It’s not particularly difficult—with some glue and thick paper, we can create various items that serve practical purposes.
Why do we do this? Simply put, we don’t want to contribute to environmental damage.
How did I first learn about this? My brother taught me. It’s not uncommon—I believe many people do similar things.
Honestly, I think this practice really helps the environment. In Indonesia, my family can easily purchase 500 DVDs in just two months. DVDs are much cheaper here because they’re pirated products, unlike in other countries where people buy originals. So imagine if we threw away 500 DVDs every two or three months—that would create a tremendous amount of waste. That’s why I genuinely believe we’re doing our part to protect the environment and make it better by not discarding these unusable discs.
